The services at the Bern site comprise the diagnosis of selected viral diseases of cattle, horses and small ruminants. Based on coordination within Switzerland, the main focus is on pestivirus and lentivirus infections and viral diseases of horses. The national reference centre for rabies (Swiss Rabies Centre) located at the Institute is responsible for rabies diagnosis and for rabies serology in human and veterinary medicine.
