Federal Council appoints Rainer Schulz as new Chairman of the Board of Directors of RUAG International
Berne, 30.04.2025 — During its meeting on 30 April 2025, the Federal Council decided to appoint Rainer Schulz as the new Chairman of the Board of Directors of RUAG International Holding AG. He is currently Vice Chairman. His election will take place at the Annual General Meeting on 20 May 2025.
Rainer Schulz has an engineering degree and, from 2006, was Chief Operating Officer (COO) and a member of the management at REHAU Group, a company with a global presence in the production of polymer-based solutions for the construction, automobile and manufacturing industries. From 2010 to 2018, he was Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of REHAU Group. Rainer Schulz has been a member of RUAG International's Board of Directors since 2020, and its Vice Chairman since 2024. He replaces Remo Lütolf, who has decided not to stand for re-election at the general meeting on 20 May 2025, on age grounds.
With Parliament's adoption of the motion 24.3477, “Maintaining control of Beyond Gravity is of strategic interest”, the full privatisation of Beyond Gravity, RUAG International's space division, is no longer being pursued. The Federal Council will need to set new strategic goals for RUAG International, as well as establishing a legal basis for federal involvement in the space division. Until then, the company will be in a period of transition in which the main focus will be business continuity. By appointing the current Vice Chairman of the RUAG International Board of Directors as the Chairman, the Federal Council aims to support this continuity, among other things. In view of this transition period, the Federal Council is refraining from appointing a further board member. The future direction of the company must be clarified before any new board appointments.
